The purpose of this style guide was to create a consistent visual identity for the Urban Arts gallery app. The design focuses on a clean, modern and minimal aesthetic that is easy to navigate, especially for a wide audience including older users who may prefer simple layouts and clear structure.
The branding uses a primary and secondary logo based on the “UA” initials. The primary logo is the full UA mark placed inside a thin black rectangular frame, which is used on main screens and the landing page to establish strong brand identity. The secondary logo is a simplified version of the UA initials without the frame, used in smaller spaces such as navigation bars and icons where a more compact design is needed.
The main colour palette is made up of black, white and beige tones. White is used as the main background colour to create a clean and gallery-like feel. Black is used for typography and key UI elements to ensure strong contrast and readability. Beige is used as a secondary accent colour for content boxes and highlighted sections, helping to separate information without distracting from the artwork.
Typography is kept simple and accessible, using clean sans-serif typefaces throughout the app. This improves readability and supports a modern, professional gallery style. A clear hierarchy is created using bold headings, medium subheadings and regular body text, helping users easily scan information.
A key UX element is the consistent use of simple rectangular buttons with rounded corners. These buttons use black text on beige backgrounds or white backgrounds with black outlines, making them easy to identify and interact with. They are used across the app for actions such as viewing artwork details and navigating between pages.
Overall, the style guide ensures consistency across all screens and supports a clear, user-friendly gallery experience.
