Post 01: Design Elements

Urban Arts – Figma

For my Urban Arts branding, I wanted the overall style to feel modern, creative, and easy to use while still looking professional. I used a mainly neutral colour palette so the artwork shown in the app would stand out more instead of being overwhelmed by bright colours. Black is mainly used for text and logos, white is used for the background, and beige is used for boxes and UI elements to keep the design soft and clean. I also included some muted accent colours to make certain areas feel more visually interesting without taking attention away from the artwork.

The primary logo uses the initials “UA” inside a thin black frame. I chose this because it looks simple and modern while still being recognisable. I also created a secondary version of the logo which can be used across different screens and layouts in the app. Keeping the logo minimal helps it fit well with the rest of the gallery aesthetic.

I used three different typefaces to create hierarchy throughout the app. Kameron is used for headings because it stands out clearly and gives the design a more elegant look. Viaoda Libre adds a more artistic and sophisticated feel to the branding, especially for titles. Jost is used for smaller text and information because it is clean and easy to read on a mobile screen.

Throughout the designs, I used simple graphical elements such as thin line icons, rounded boxes, and minimal borders to keep everything consistent. I also created reusable UI components including buttons, navigation bars, and icon menus so each page feels connected and easy to navigate. Overall, all of the design elements work together to create a clear brand identity for Urban Arts that feels modern, welcoming, and creative.
