The design research phase helped me develop a clear and focused direction for my app, Amplify Festival (The Weeknd: Amplify Festival). I began by exploring a range of initial ideas, focusing on how the app could enhance the festival experience for both in-person attendees and users watching live. This led me to prioritise key features such as live streaming, personalised schedules, artist information, and an interactive map. Through researching existing festival apps, I found that many of them successfully provide important information such as line-ups and schedules, but often feel difficult to navigate and lack the atmosphere of an actual festival. This influenced my decision to create a layout that is both simple and visually engaging, ensuring that users can access information quickly without feeling overwhelmed.

My mood boards helped define the overall aesthetic of the app. I chose a minimal but bold design, using a dark base with selective colours to reflect the energy and atmosphere of live music events. This approach allows key elements, such as the “watch live” feature and artist highlights, to stand out clearly while maintaining a clean look. The target audience for my app includes music fans of any age who are either attending the festival or watching remotely. Designing for both groups allowed me to create a more inclusive app experience, ensuring that it offers something for everyone.

Overall, my design decisions were influenced by a combination of research and experimentation. By focusing on simplicity, atmosphere, and functionality, I aimed to create an app that improves on existing festival apps by offering a user-friendly experience.
