The aim of this high-fidelity prototype was to create a modern and accessible mobile app for the Urban Arts gallery. Throughout the design process, I focused on combining strong visual design with clear user experience principles to create an interface that is both visually appealing and easy to navigate. The final prototype presents a realistic version of how the finished app would function before and during a gallery visit.
A major UX decision was creating simple navigation throughout the app. Because the target audience includes older users, I wanted all pages to feel clear and easy to understand. The consistent bottom navigation bar allows users to quickly move between sections such as the gallery, events, favourites and donations pages without confusion. Keeping navigation consistent across the app improves usability and creates a smoother overall experience.
UI principles were also important during development. I used a neutral colour palette consisting of black, white and beige tones to create a clean and professional appearance. These colours help keep the focus on the artwork rather than distracting interface elements. Large imagery, organised spacing and rounded interface components were used to make the design feel modern while remaining accessible.
The app also includes features designed to increase user engagement, such as featured artwork sections, event pages and donation options. These pages help create a stronger connection between users and the gallery while supporting the purpose of the app beyond simply viewing artwork.
Visual research from Pinterest, Dribbble and existing gallery websites heavily influenced the final design. Many modern gallery apps use minimalist layouts and strong imagery, which inspired my own approach. During development, I adjusted several layouts to reduce clutter and improve readability. Overall, I believe the final high-fidelity prototype successfully demonstrates both effective UX and UI design while creating a visually consistent and user-friendly experience for Urban Arts.
